Clinical Psychologist
B.Psych, Grad Dip Ed, M.Psych (Clinical)
I have a Masters in Clinical Psychology and have been registered with the Psychology Board of Australia since 2010. I trained in Western Australia and hold endorsement in the area of Clinical Psychology. I have worked as a Clinical Psychologist for the past 13 years across a number of government organisations, such as the Child Development Service, Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services and in the hospital setting. I have also worked in various private practices working with adults, adolescents and children.
I also have a Graduate Diploma in Education and have worked as a School Psychologist in the public sector in both primary and high school settings. This role has enabled me to work with children, adolescents, parents and school staff.
I have experience in working with adults, adolescents and children around a broad range of issues including anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder, OCD, childhood developmental conditions, emotional regulation difficulties and behaviour concerns in children.
Areas of Expertise
I have a particular interest in the assessment and treatment of stress, adjustment difficulties, anxiety, depression and bipolar disorder in adolescents and adults. My work also extends to the treatment of emotional regulation difficulties, anxiety, behavioral and developmental difficulties/disorders in children. In treating children, I also enjoy working with parents to help support and empower them to use effective parenting strategies/approaches and strengthen the parent-child relationship.
Another area of interest I have is in providing clinical supervision. I am registered with the Psychology Board of Australia as a supervisor for Psychologists and Clinical Psychologists, including as a primary supervisor for Clinical Psychology Registrars. I have engaged in supervisory work for the past 9 years. I have a particular focus on reflective practice.
I always bring kindness, compassion, curiosity and empathy into the therapy room to build a strong therapeutic alliance with my client(s). As part of therapy, I use a range of evidence-based approaches to help facilitate positive change. Some of these therapeutic approaches include Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy, Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing and Attachment-based therapies.
To access therapy, I provide clients with the option of either attending face-to-face appointments through my home practice or engaging in Telehealth/Phone call sessions. I provide individual counselling sessions to adults, adolescents and children, either by self-referral or through a Mental Health Care Plan and referral from your GP. If you are claiming a Medicare rebate you will need a review by your doctor after 6 sessions. You are able to claim a Medicare rebate for up to 10 consultations in a calendar year.
If you do not have a referral from your doctor, you may be eligible for a rebate from your private health fund. You would need to check your eligibility with them. Please note that you cannot claim a rebate from both Medicare and your private health fund at the same time.
I offer an affordable rate for new clients with a fee of $200 per session and for clients with a current concession card I offer a reduced rate of $180 per session. For clients with a current GP Mental Health Care Plan, you can claim a Medicare rebate of $145.25 per session for up to 10 sessions.
